• Performs tasks involving physical labor at building, highway and heavy construction and vertical project and demolition sites.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments depending on the project.
• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Read and interpret plans, instructions and specifications to determine work activities.
• May need to control traffic passing near, in, and around works zones.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials.
• Digs ditches and trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers and rakes.
• Position, align and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
• Measure, mark and indentify building materials, machinery and tools then distribute them to the appropriate locations according to project plans and specifications.
• Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring boxes, traffic barricades, ramps and other temporary structures.
• May build and position forms for pouring concrete and dismantle forms after use with use of saws, hammers, nails and bolts.



The position of Tyonek on the issue of affirmative action is

professionals, administrators and support personnel to best serve the Navajo
People.  Tyonek's decisions and personnel actions shall be based on the
principles, intent and purposes of the Navajo Preference in Employment Act
(NPEA) and the needs of Tyonek. 



Tyonek shall give preference to Navajo personnel in
providing employment, training opportunities and in employment in supervisory
and management positions, subject to the needs of Tyonek and other requirements
imposed upon Tyonek by 7 N.N.C. §401, contract/grant and other applicable
regulations and laws. 



Tyonek's 
VP of Finance/Business Development shall be directly responsible for compliance
with the AAP, to include but not limited to, all reporting and monitoring
functions.  The VP of Finance/Business Development may delegate specific
responsibilities pursuant to a written operational plan which shall be attached
to this AAP
